Description

A candleholder can be a sculpture, a jewellery object, an architectural miniature. The curatorial task was to find pieces where form and material hold on their own — without the candle.

The shooting environment is dense dark-green graphite velour on both the working surface and the background. It absorbs all reflections and glare, leaving only the form of the object in the frame. The sole light source is a smouldering candle inside the holder. Where no candle is present, the effect is simulated: a warm source off-camera creates the quality of a winter evening by a fire. This light works equally across semi-porcelain, metal, and glass — each material opens differently within the same lighting situation.

All objects and the environment were produced digitally: virtual set design with integration of original photography supplied by the brands, without physical logistics.
